動物も植物も、あらゆる命が平等に尊重される世界を夢見て

Having grown up in the countryside of Niigata, Japan, nature was my greatest teacher and playground.

I have loved animals since I was a child, but ever since I started tending the garden and growing flowers, I have come to believe that the lives of plants deserve even greater respect.

All animals and plants living in the natural world have their own roles to play.

Humans, too, must surely have a role to play.

I believe that the power and wisdom we humans possess should be used not to destroy nature, but to enrich it.

What I can do as an individual may be small, but I wish to make every effort to contribute, cherishing the culture of my homeland, which valued the art of living in harmony with nature.

日本の新潟の田舎で育った私にとって、自然は一番の先生であり遊び場でした。

子供の頃から動物が好きでしたが、庭の手入れをしたり花を育てたりするようになってからは、植物の命ももっと尊重されるべきだと考えるようになりました。

自然界で生きている動物や植物にはみなそれぞれの役割があります。

人間にだって、人間の役割があるはずです。

私たち人間が持つ力と知恵は、自然を破壊するためではなく豊かにするために使われるべきだと思います。

そのために私個人ができることは小さいかもしれませんが、自然と共に生きる術を大切にしていた祖国の文化を大切に、できる限りの貢献をしていきたいのです。

My Story

I’ve always been a shy person; as a child, I preferred drawing on my own at home to playing with others outside.

To be honest, I’m not very good at socialising.

Whilst I’m delighted when I can make someone happy, I tend to push myself too hard to achieve that, which leaves me exhausted.

So, when I wondered what I could do to bring joy to both myself and others, it occurred to me that art might be the answer.

Of course, there are plenty of people who are more talented than I am, but precisely because I tend to put others first—for better or worse—I believe I can create work that is uncompromising, using every ounce of my ability.

I hope that my modest pleasures might, in some small way, bring you joy and add a touch of colour to your lives.

私はもともと内気な性格で、外でみんなと一緒に遊ぶよりもうちで一人で絵を描いている方が好きな子供でした。

人付き合いは、はっきり言って苦手です。

誰かに喜んでもらえるのがとても嬉しい反面、そのために頑張りすぎて疲れるからです。

それではそんな自分が自分自身も他の人も喜ばせられることはなんだろうと考えた時、アートがあるのではないかと思いつきました。

もちろん、自分より上手な人なんてたくさんいるのですが、良くも悪くも他の人のことを一番に考えてしまう自分だからこそ、自分の持てる限りの力で妥協しない物を作れると思うのです。

私のささやかな楽しみが、少しでも皆さんの楽しみになって生活を彩ってくれたらと思います。
